Organisers said: "We feel this is a sensible and pragmatic approach given recent events in London".
Olympics Minister Hugh Robertson said the beach volleyball in the security review was supported by Downing Street.
Robertson said, "We looked at the policing numbers and the fact that this part of London is quite well policed anyway and the active policing of the venue was being provided by private security firms".
